Let’s start with the front. From pictures it looks suitably aggressive but pictures do not do this car justice! The nose is longer than Pinocchio’s and the lights are very big. Its a very imposing car! Its long, low and wide which is key to a good looking sports car. Now whether or not you find the Panamera ‘good-looking’ is entirely up to you because for sure they are people that will never agree with this cars looks but, we can all agree that the sheer road presence of these Porsches is crazy!
There was a dark brown one behind me in traffic and it nearly made me have an accident! Its so intimidating! When you drive any Porsche in traffic, You get what i’m going to refer to now as road respect! I drove a Cayenne about 2 weeks before and people literally stopped from far for me to join the road! There’s no ridiculous negotiations like you would have with normal cars, noooooooo. No one comes near these cars even in difficult driving conditions! For someone to fear a car in some places is rare but certain with the Panamera! In Europe, you can recognise a Panamera from like half a kilometre away! Hugggggeeeee!
The 3.6 litre engine is okay. It’s the base model so its not like its going to send you into space but for city driving its adequate. Of course if you want to race M5’s then there’s the 4.8 litre ones in the GTS, Turbo and Turbo S. There’s also a V8 diesel one in the newer ones which personally I haven’t even seen but is wicked in a straight line. Regardless of the engine, they are all relatively reliable. Performance is strong and the sound is great but you didn’t need me to tell you this, It’s a Porsche!
The Interior to me is so similar to the Cayenne. They look a little bit different but it’s like identical twins really. Only people that know them well can distinguish between the two. If you read my Cayenne review you’ll know that I’m a fan of the Cayennes interior. There’s variations so the base one I reviewed didn’t have the leather pack and as with the Cayennes that don’t have it, makes the interior just okay. The leather pack completely transforms these cars! The extended leather interiors make them so wonderful! It’s like sitting in a luxury jet cockpit with ultra soft leather. The driving position is perfect because of the raised centre console. You sit so high yet you always feel ‘in the car’ as opposed to on it like a Land Rover which feels like sitting on a rooftop. This car also has a shocking amount of space as I discovered too.
Im 6’5″. I can barely fit into anything at this point let alone my bed, my bedroom door, shower but I can fit in every seat in a Panamera! The back seat is hugggeee! They say it was designed so the CEO of Porsche could fit who was rather tall and I thank them for that! This car is one you could stay a cool hour in even after you’ve reached your destination and enjoy the privilege! Of-course the interior has downsides like the small door mirrors but that’s something that won’t matter after 5 minutes of getting used to the car.
This car actually makes sense is the funny thing. Very funny because people think of Porsches as track or weekend cars but we have discovered after the Cayenne that all of them make sense! They are reliable, comfortable, tough and now practical after looking at this boot! Bloody Huge is appropriate! You can actually contemplate buying an SUV after this! If it had 5 seats then it can easily replace an suv since buyers hardly go off-road these days. The interior is practical in general, the glovebox is more than enough to fit the Chanel bags of your passengers and the seat back storage is plentiful.
This car is just so maturely exciting, Its like a sensible toy! The spoiler at the back that pops out just makes the person driving feel like they are in a jet airplane! In the GTS and Turbo models it actually pops and folds out! It also has valves if you get the sports exhaust so the sound can be further amplified! I tried this on a Cayenne and it actually makes a huge difference. If you really want to torture your neighbours and make them extremely jealous, leave the valves open!
The car was so close. So close I’m telling you! I can understand why they made it look like this at the back and its an acquired taste for sure but, you know what? I think this cars looks are what make it so special! You can never stop thinking about the strange rear proportions and styling! Humans tend to love things that have been on their mind for a long time. That’s why toxic people are more lovable!
Things that are beautiful in nature are not aggressive. We are brought up to think that way! Would anyone ever be excited to watch a flamingo fight? Not necessarily! But if its a gorilla fight then yeaaahhh! Gorillas are not particularly beautiful but that’s what makes them exciting when they are doing their job! If caterpillar tractors were beautiful then the job would be less exciting for farmers. Purposeful objects with little regard for beauty always retain value better. Beauty is something to please the emotions but purpose isn’t.
I don’t particularly find pretty looks to be a good selling point for a car. If that was the case then Aston Martin would have never been on the verge of bankruptcy. The Toyota Corolla is ugly but that hasn’t stopped people from buying them!
This car is something else! Yes, the Mercedes Benz S-class has a more Luxurious interior depending on specification as I discovered that day but, the S-class will never be as special as the Panamera. If you have this in front of your house whether its parked backwards or forwards, people will always have questions! Honestly if I had to pick between the two, it will always be the Panamera! From the sheer road presence to the reliability, space and driving dynamics, when you drive this car you completely forget about its flaws and about the competition too. It can be like a spouse if you aren’t careful!
And did I forget the Porsche Badge! In society we cannot ignore where Porsche stands in the Luxury world. It’s the Chanel or LV of the car world. Porsche also has such a wide range of competition from Ferrari to BMW. We also can’t forget that Porsche always dominates the Nurburgring records in Germany and its racing pedigree plus reputation for engineering and yet despite this, its not as risky a proposition as you might expect. Yes the service is more expensive but it requires half as many service intervals as every other car on the road and, They don’t break like most cars on the road. Buying it is where you pay though but my goodness is it worth it!
The Porsche Panamera is in my top 5 cars of all time! I’m not loving it in spite of the way it looks, I love it because of the way it looks and mainly because of the way Porsches Drive. This car is Intimidating, aggressive and tough just like a Mountain Gorilla! So great!
