BMW’s new direction is very apparent these days. Their direction is definitely a-lot different from what they used to do before.
Dare to look different? Absolutely! This is either method, or madness! The new M3 seemed to be talked about a-lot! definitely not ignored and same with the new XM. No one cared about the Mercedes GLS or any of those mainstream ‘SUV’s’. Once they see the BMW grille the media starts pouring.
Negative press is better than no press! I know people that would buy the car just for the way it looks. The new BMW’s are so striking. Its like the ones with ‘regular’ grilles blend in too much. I saw an X7 parked on the boulevard in Oxford and it just looks alien! An X5 however or 5 series look like normal cars with the Lexus’s and Hyundai’s rolling around today.
If you think about it, what sets a brand apart? I go out every day and just see cars that look so similar. The bold cars turn my head. ‘Boxy’ cars are a thing of the past. And bold styling cues are gone too. Critics are refusing to accept anything different! Some few people still get offended by the G wagons looks! I think its going to be a matter of time till this BMW grille can sink in and when it does, regular cars will start to look boring.
Remember the Audi Q7? People absolutely didn’t like its looks. They thought it was too big and some thought it was ugly. Look at the first gen q7 today! It looks modern especially compared to competition such as the Mercedes Gl from that Era.
These cars aren’t cheap. If you bought an expensive car, would you want it to look regular? If the Bentley Bentayga looked regular, why not just buy a Range Rover? Its the Bentayga looks that give it its presence and same with these BMW’s. Look at the VW phaeton, theres a reason it flopped! The XM will definately stand out on the road whether its for good or bad reasons and thats what the owners like! You don’t buy a BMW M3 to be subtle😂 why should it be the same with the XM. Thats like buying a Hublot watch that looks like an apple watch. You don’t exactly want people calling your Hublot an apple watch, that’s disgraceful🤮
The back of this car is bloody hideous. It looks like a parts bin. Absolutely the worst looking car you can buy today but, it looks bad in a good way. I think it will grow on me although the first time i saw it i was absolutely shocked. It looks crazy. I can’t believe it. Good thing its still a concept but the real one might look similar.
So is it method or madness? Its method! These people are not crazy, do you really think they are that stupid to release something like this out of nowhere? They have many teams dedicated to bringing their products to success. This car wouldn’t slip through if it wasn’t for a reason. I find it very obvious because the car markets itself with those looks. And thats the Beauty of it!
