The New Range Rover. Rebirth of an icon the new Range Rover has come back to avenge its crown. Will it work with all the competition?

Of Recent there’s been a change in the luxury suv market. Some strange things have been happening. Aston Martin has an suv. If a regular Rolls Royce wasn’t enough of a statement in its size, they had to make it a step bigger. The BMW X7 actually beat the old icon in a carwow review. What was happening?

The Range Rover wasn’t the coolest either. The smaller velar could give it a run for the money and don’t even talk about the Mercedes Gelandewagen.

It wasn’t that unique either because it had been on the market for years so it began to blend in just a little bit. The Range Rover was getting old.

So does it look better? Absofreakinglutly. It’s very distinct. From the leaks I was a-bit shocked to be honest but after the reveal I now think it’s just as eye grabbing as the Land Rover defender and that’s as high as praise gets. The defender cannot be missed on the road. It can never fail to turn heads.

Very distinct!

I really wonder who the first to copy the Rangie will be. Next Ford Explorer? Perhaps some Kia. Who will be the first to take a swing at it? Perhaps some attempt like they did with the Jeeps and g wagons. Ineos Perhaps will make its own version and claim it wasn’t inspired by the Land Rover😂

Will this car steal sales from its competitors? Depends. Cullinan owners can definitely afford to have them both. G wagon buyers may be swayed. Bentayga buyers will be swayed for sure. The BMW X7 is in trouble and so is the Mercedes GLS. Lexus LX buyers don’t tend to care about Rangies so they’ll be relatively unaffected.

In terms of off-roading, I do believe it would be irrelevant to call this an off-roader. Not a single person talked about its off-road capability in the reveal apart from the water wading. They are forgetting their roots and that is disappointing. We want to hear more about its mud plugging capabilities. To be fair, even we have owned a Range Rover and we wouldn’t dare off-road it beyond the casual track. The gizmos would help but the 20 inch rims didn’t do it any justice. The car will slide straight into a bush the moment things get wet. Mind you it did get home but we tried the same thing a week later in its sister Land Rover Discovery and that walked the terrain like mice walk cats.

Did they play it safe?

I think they played it a little bit safe. They didn’t go wrong cause they couldn’t go wrong. From the front it’s far too identical. This isn’t an L322 to L405 change. From the front it’s a mere facelift. Give it a few months and they’ll be a conversion kit for sure. From the back however!

The new Range Rover has a nice Bunda

From the back it looks very different from any Range Rover we have seen. In my opinion, from the back it looks even better than the velar. The velar was the best looking Range Rover we had seen in years. From the front this new Range Rover isn’t as beautiful as the velar. But I don’t think it needs to be. The big Range Rover is about presence.

In terms of the interior, it’s less impressive to look at. It can get absolutely smoked in terms of design by the s class. But the s class interior is gonna age like a peeled banana. The Range Rovers will age like George Clooney. No one can do an interior like a Rolls Royce though. The Range Rover is the bridge between the s class and the Roller.

Seven seats is always something I’ve been longing for. Why didn’t they do it before? We had always have to have a Discovery around because the Range Rover is a five seater. As a large family the Range Rover was impractical and so it was just a garage showpiece until the occasional lets go for a cruise round the beach day. The Discovery was the car doing all the work but now that this has 7 seats. Who needs a discovery? The Land Rover discovery has been made so irrelevant that I think it should be scrapped. The New Discovery was never a true replacement for the Mack Daddy Discovery 4. It was just a Range Rover with 7 seats. Now that the Range Rover has seven seats, who is gonna buy a Discovery?

The new features include 4 wheel steering and new dampers and active noise cancelling, Alexa and all that. What annoyed me is that they lied that they were the first to have noise cancelling. Audi A8? Maybach S600? Did they not do their research?

It’s Excellent

The new Range Rover is a great car. If the reliability issues are sorted out then there’s no reason not to buy it. Land Rover is making good decisions these days so now what they need to do is scrap the Discovery 5 and bring back the Boxy Discovery. The Defender should have been the Discovery 5 but I’ll let it slide cause the Defender is really cool. This new Range Rover is one I’d definitely give a stamp of approval.
