Ladies and gentlemen, I am not a playboy and neither do i approve of such behaviour. My blog is about my interests and my target market are the people that are interested in things that i’m interested in. Fragrances are a long term interest of mine and for the sake of staying real i’m going to state it like it is. No marketing, no nonsense. I have gone out and tried all these fragrances for different reasons but for the sake of this context, the results can apply. If you’re a straight man, these are the fragrances you should look for.

Honourable Mentions

Let’s start with the honourable mentions. These are the ones that are not necessarily worse than the rest on this list, they just don’t do the job either because they are too common or they pull the wrong audience.

Dior Sauvage by Christian Dior

Sauvage is an amazing scent and the new elixir version even better still but, don’t make the mistake of buying it unless you live somewhere that it’s rare such as parts of Africa. In the western world, Every mans idea of what to buy is Dior Sauvage. In Europe and especially the UK, don’t. They literally put it in club bathrooms for you to spray for £1. If you buy it in such regions you will smell like everyone and you’ll end up smelling like her ex-boyfriend or Father. You walk through a mall for around an hour and you’ll smell it multiple times. I love this scent and it does the job but it can work against you if you’re not careful.

Acqua Di Gio Line

Acqua Di Gio is a great line. It is absolutely powerful and its generally a great smell but its been around too. It also gets reactions but this time its from the wrong audience. For a Fragrance to wear everyday to the office, its an absolute buy but its not as efficient as some of the people reading this would like.

Terre de Hermes

Terre de Hermes is a masterpiece but, its not for everyone. I can understand why some people wouldn’t like it.

Now that’s that’s done, let’s get started with the list.

10. Versace Eros

The First time i wore this i got a headache. It takes some getting used to. My Ex Girlfriend loved it and i haven’t bought it again for reasons that are obvious. It’s also not that rare. Theres places you will go and smell it everywhere because for $60-$80, its good value. Very strong and very mass appealing but i cant get over the fact that people always say they have smelt it before. It was Sauvage before it got popular. Honestly in terms of the smell, theres not much to complain about. It’s not higher on this list because like Paco Rabbane Invictus, its one of those smells that can give you a massive headache especially if you overspray. In a warm room, it can suffocate anyone within a 3 metre radius. Invictus is more extreme than that but at the end of the day, you get what you paid for.

9. Creed Aventus

Creed Aventus is the most Macho brute force smelling man fragrance. This is what Aqua Man would wear or Conan the Barbarian. I’m not even sure if people like this smell or not but this is not a cologne you wear because you want compliments. Noooooo. This is a cologne that makes you feel like the man! When you wear it, your confidence goes up by like 50%. It makes you want to go and do some manual labour. Honestly, you have to have the persona to pull this off otherwise it wont work. Think twice before you buy not just for that reason but also because its $400. And if you think that Club De nuit intense smells the same for $30, you’re crazy. I can smell the difference especially in my gym. The Armaf one smells cheap and annoying honestly but the creed one removes that annoyance. It’s Far richer and more leathery. It’s like comparing Axe to old spice. Axe is for teenage boys, Old Spice is for Men. You can smell where the money is.

8. Bleu de Chanel EDP

Blue De Chanel has to be the safest cologne of all time. It’s one of those i don’t know what to wear so i’ll wear this and i know i’ll smell good. Beautiful scent! Its rather expensive but you can understand why. Something with a Chanel Logo isn’t going to come cheap. Its fresh and blue with a masculine edge to it. It’s the well sorted man scent. If you believe you’re doing well for your self then this is what you should smell like. The day i bought it, someone saw the bag with the Chanel logo and said wow, you’re rich! It’s funny honestly. Chanels brand power is so strong. I had no idea as a guy and i didn’t know how much most women lust after Chanel products. It’s Interesting!

7. Creed Silver Mountain Water

Picture swimming in the water of a silver mountain. Silver Mountain Water is the most unique smell i have ever tried. It’s the most different of the mens colognes on this list. Its light and feels like youve walked out of heavens shower. When you wear it you just want to put your hands behind you and walk elegantly. its a smell of a person that has no worries in life. The reason it isn’t higher up is because after a while of smelling it, it can get a-bit annoying so this is the one you wear once in a while and its also too damn expensive. It is probably one of the only colognes you can smell regardless of whether you have a cold. Some people online say they could smell it even when they had covid. It’s a very green scent and the first 20 times you smell it you honestly will not believe that such a wonderful smell can exist. It should be some form of therapy this scent! It doesn’t smell like a person but more of a place. A place of absolute relaxation and trouble free living. Is it worth $400? yeah! The day i can afford a bottle, theres no question.

6. Jean Paul Guiltier Le male (line-up)

The Le male lineup is excellent but i’ll just focus on the ones you should buy. The original Le-Male is so powdery and wonderful smelling but the only problem is its been out for a while so what id recommend if you like it is that you get Le-male Le Parfum in the black bottle. It’s safe for all ages and i would have a hard time believing that anyone can hate this scent. Now, let’s talk about the killer. Jean Paul Guiltier Ultra Male. I do not understand this fragrance but it seems to have an effect on women that i completely do not understand. I do not personally like it firstly because its too damn strong! it is by far the strongest fragrance i’ve ever worn and its just an EDT. Spray it on and even after you’ve showered ‘with soap’, it will still smell. For the wearer it isn’t as pleasant because it can overwhelm you with this sweetness especially on first application. So to settle it, i let my friends wear it and according to them, it changed their nights out. When i wear it, girls that hated me would still compliment and ask about the smell. Honestly given the choice i would have not bought it but if you wanna be a player, ‘Ultra Male’ (only) is for you. The rest of the Le Male’s don’t have that same vibe though.

5. Prada L’homme Intense

Prada L’homme Intense is becoming expensive. The first bit of money i made was spent on this fragrance. It was $110 at the time but now its over $130 and practically difficult to find. Like the original Prada L’homme, it has this wonderful soapy laundry vibe. Its a clean smelling scent. Prada L’homme is a masterpiece and Prada L’homme intense delivers that extra spicy kick to bring the results. It’s the second strongest fragrance i’ve tested and can last as long as till the next shower. Theres something so put together smelling about this. No matter how shady you look, putting on this can reverse it. Absolutely worth it. Does it pull results? Yes for sure.

4. Dior Homme Intense

Dior homme intense immediately reminded me of Prada L’homme. but its a-bit softer, a-bit less punchy. Less soapy and more powdery. Just wonderful. It’s a fragrance that screams ‘hug me’. Dior Homme Intense is so calm and when you wear it, it instantly changes the mood of you and those that can smell it. Its a smell of comfort and a genuine masterpiece. You cannot go wrong by wearing this! Its not like Paco Rabanne Invictus where you’ll have people with smell allergies running away and headaches to so many people. Dior Homme is like a piano playing jazz. It sets a mood.

3. Parfums De Marly Layton & Perfums De Marly Herod

Man I did not expect this! Parfums de marly Layton is a masterpiece! The moment i sprayed this, I was like yup! this is the one! Herod is more like spice bomb extreme in a different direction. It also has a-bit of that apple that you get in Layton but, Layton has that mass appeal. Both are fantastic however at dry down. Honestly if you’re going to a high class event, look no further! It smells expensive and unique but not errrrr…. like some Tom Fords. The expense is justified by how difficult it is to make a smell mass appealing but also niche and distinct. Layton smells playful and its good regardless of weather. It is the most versatile mass appealing special scent you can buy. £210 is a-lot of money but i can understand its cost. When i wear it, i feel happy. Its not the wooooow like the Spice-bomb or Ultra Male but its more of a silent killer. It’s a compliment to you in which you are the main dish. Spice Bomb is the main dish always but sometimes you don’t want that. Sometimes you don’t want your smell to define you and you definitely don’t want that when you’re dressed up for an event. Layton and Herod are Masterpieces and they last long too!

2. La Nuit De l’homme Bleu Électrique

I hate to use phrases like this one but let’s be honest, Bleu Électrique is a chick magnet. Masterpiece! When you wear it, you notice that your personal space will start to disappear slowly. I really thought this was overrated at some point but the effects speak otherwise. In the air this thing is absolutely beautiful. I had the original La Nuit EDT and it was the best thing i had smelt at the time. The problem was it was so weak so you couldn’t smell it. Now they revived it but they have added some blue notes so now it smells fresh too. Now its more versatile and honestly by far better than the original. This is a more gentle scent rather than a dark bad boy scent like the spice-bombs. A little more understated and subtle. It’s the Porsche compared to the Ferrari. Believe me it works wonders. People treat you differently when you wear La Nuit. It’s the reason this is the highest voted fragrance on Fragrantica. The problem is its discontinued so expect to pay around $200 for a bottle unless you get lucky or unless you get a sample. #Bring back Bleu Électrique.

  1. Victor & Rolf Spice Bomb Extreme

Ladies and Gentlemen, It’s time to ignore all that internet non sense. If you really want results, Theres no beating the spice-bomb. I did not expect it to be honest, Wow. You can have random people just like wow. I have never had a fragrance with such mass appeal. When you first put it on, it smells funny for the first few minutes but believe me, by the time you have left the house, the magic has already happened. People have genuine wow reactions and asking questions like wow is that a new spray or comments like wow someone in this queue smells really good. This thing is consistent and it’s so strong. I tried the original spice-bomb and that is one of the most ultra masculine things i’ve smelt. This takes that, and adds vanilla and intensity and believe me its enough. It’s such a complex smell and smells different in the air than it does on your hand. I was walking and was suddenly struck by one of those indoor A/C’s and it whiffed around and i was like whats that smell? and it kept happening. It was the most amazing thing i had ever smelt! i realised after a while that it keeps following me and i knew the one on my hand smelt different. It makes that much of a difference in the air! when i realised it was the spice-bomb extreme, i understood why people give it such reactions. Once you wear this you honestly do not need a wingman. There is a catch though, Spice-bomb extreme sadly is a cold weather scent so on a hot day, forget it. It will overwhelm you with sweetness and it just wont be pleasant. but in the cold, anything below 10 degrees C and i’m telling you, no competition hands down.
